Meet Marc "Basher" Barton
Strongman • Veteran • Max Labs Ambassador
Max Labs is proud to welcome Marc "Basher" Barton as an official Brand Ambassador, a man whose journey from the military to the strongman arena embodies everything we stand for: grit, discipline, and relentless self-improvement.
A proud veteran of HM Armed Forces, Marc served in the Army Air Corps before moving into the Royal Air Force and later the UK Prison Service. His military background forged the mental resilience and physical toughness that would later define his sporting career.
After a successful spell as a rugby prop, playing at a high level including Army Rugby and junior Prison Service rugby, Marc was forced into retirement by serious injuries, including a snapped leg and a torn bicep. But rather than slow down, he found a new calling. When a friend unknowingly entered him into an amateur strongman competition, Marc placed second at Dorset's Strongest Man on his very first attempt and never looked back.
Standing at 5'10" and competing in the under 105kg class, Marc is living proof that modern strongman demands true athleticism, not just brute size. He currently holds the title of England's Strongest Master under 105kg, took first place at the Legionnaire Strongest Man, and has set his sights on the Ultimate World Championships. Marc trains five times a week at The Legion Strength and Fitness gym in County Durham while working full-time, a testament to the discipline and drive that makes him a perfect fit for Max Labs.
